| On Monday, July 7, crews from the West Shore Bureau of Fire (Company 13) responded to a lawn mower accident that occurred, requiring EMS assistance for the injured individual. Emergency medical personnel provided on-scene care and transported the patient for further treatment.
After the patient was safely transferred to EMS, firefighters faced an unexpected challenge: the damaged lawn mower remained in the roadway, posing a hazard to traffic. That’s when Driver/Operator Wurster stepped up without hesitation.
“Chief, if it has wheels, I can operate it,” Wurster reportedly said before moving the mower out of the way, clearing the road and ensuring the scene was safe for both responders and the public.
Incidents like this highlight the diverse situations firefighters encounter and the adaptability required in every response. The West Shore Bureau of Fire remains committed to protecting the community through quick thinking, teamwork, and dedication on every call.
